## What is a wine tour?

A wine tour is a visit by tourists to your vineyard. VineyardElf lets you enrich that experience - a guest scans a QR code by a row of vines and sees information about the grape variety, the story behind it, photos and video.

## How does it work?

### For the winemaker (you)

1. You can print a QR code for every row
2. The guest scans the code with their phone
3. They see a beautiful page with information about the variety

### For the guest (wine tourist)

By scanning the QR code, the guest sees:
- **The variety name** and planting year
- **A description** prepared by the winemaker
- **A story** about that particular row
- **A video** (YouTube) about the variety
- **A voice note** from the winemaker
- **Photos** (marketing or public)

## Setting up rows for wine tourists

### Step 1: Edit the row

1. Go to **Vineyard map**
2. Select a row
3. Click **Edit**

### Step 2: Fill in the "Wine tour" section

- **Public title** - e.g. "Riesling - the king of white wines"
- **Public description** - a short text about the variety (1-2 paragraphs)
- **Winemaker's story** - a personal story or anecdote
- **Video link** - a YouTube URL
- **Audio link** - a URL to a voice recording
- **Mark as public** - enable this so guests can see it

### Step 3: Add marketing photos

1. In the row's photo gallery, mark selected photos as **"Marketing"**
2. These photos will be shown to guests
3. If there are no marketing photos, photos marked as "Public" will be shown

**Tip:** Add beautiful summer photos - guests visiting in winter will see how the vineyard looks in full season!

## Printing QR codes

In the row view, click **Print QR** to generate a code.

You can:
- Print it on paper and laminate it
- Engrave it on wood or metal
- Order plaques with the code

## Recognizing users

The system automatically recognizes who is scanning the code:

| User | What they see |
|------|---------------|
| **Guest** (not logged in) | A beautiful public page with description, photos, video |
| **Winemaker** (logged-in owner) | A management panel - can edit and add photos |

## Planned features

In the future:
- **Short URLs** (`/r/18`) for simpler QR codes
- **QR export to SVG** for CNC cutters
- **A "Print all QR codes" page**
- **Automatic info about wines** produced from the variety
- **Vintage history** and recent harvests

## Example

A guest scans the QR code by a Riesling row and sees:

> **Riesling - the king of white wines**
>
> A German variety, perfectly adapted to a cool climate. We planted these vines in 2018.
>
> **Winemaker's story:**
> "This row means something special to me - I got the cuttings from my grandfather's vineyard in Alsace..."
>
> [Video about the Riesling variety]
> [Gallery of photos from the summer harvest]
