Why do I need a vineyard map?
The map is the visual command center for managing your vineyard. At a glance you can see:
- Where each grape variety is planted
- The location of weather sensors
- Irrigation zones
- Issues detected by Machine Vision
Click on any element to see its details and statistics.
What does the map look like?
Base layer
You can choose from:
- Satellite - aerial/satellite imagery
- Map - a classic road map
- Custom - upload your own drone orthophoto
Layers
The map displays several types of elements:
- Blocks - colored polygons representing grape varieties
- Sensors - weather station icons
- Sprinklers - OpenSprinkler zones
- Issues - pins marking detected diseases
Blocks - the backbone of organization
What is a block?
A block is a defined planting unit - usually a single variety of a single vintage. For example, “Riesling 2018 - Sector A”.
What information does a block hold?
- Variety - Riesling, Chardonnay, etc.
- Rootstock - the rootstock type
- Planting year
- Area - in hectares
- Number of vines
- Training system - Guyot, VSP, etc.
How do I add a block?
- Go to Map > Edit
- Click “Draw block”
- Draw a polygon by clicking on its corners
- Close the polygon (click on the starting point)
- Fill in the details in the form
- Save
Sensors on the map
What do they show?
A sensor icon shows:
- Color - status (green = OK, red = problem)
- Tooltip - the current temperature on hover
How do I add a sensor?
- Configure the sensor in Settings > Integrations
- Go to Map > Edit > Sensors
- Click “Add sensor”
- Click a spot on the map
- Pick the sensor from the list
- Save
Irrigation zones
If you use OpenSprinkler, you can assign zones to areas on the map:
- Go to Map > Edit > Zones
- Draw the zone area
- Assign it to an OpenSprinkler zone
- Now the map shows which area is watered by which zone
Information layers
In the “Layers” menu you can turn on additional information:
Disease risk
Blocks are colored by their risk level:
- Green - low
- Yellow - moderate
- Red - high
Temperature (interpolation)
If you have several sensors, the system estimates the temperature at any point. This is useful for finding “cold pockets” during frost events.
Issue history
Pins show where Machine Vision has detected diseases.
Interacting with the map
Clicking on a block
Opens a panel with:
- Block details
- Current disease risk
- Recent calendar entries
- Action buttons
Clicking on a sensor
Shows:
- Current readings
- A 24h mini-chart
- A link to full details
Tips
- Update your data after changes - vine removal, replanting, variety changes
- Name blocks meaningfully - “Riesling A” is better than “Block 7”
- Enable thematic layers - you will spot problem areas at a glance
