The vessel register is the list of every tank, barrel, vat and other container in your winery. Each vessel gets a permanent QR code, so in the cellar you scan a barrel with your phone instead of hunting for it by name.
What it is for
- One place with every vessel, its capacity, material and location.
- Barrels catalogued properly: cooper, year made, toast level, oak type.
- The QR code belongs to the vessel for good and does not change when you rename it. You scan the vessel, not the label.
Where to find it
In the menu choose Vessels.
Adding a vessel
- Click New vessel.
- Enter a Name, for example “Tank T1” or “Barrel B3”.
- Pick the Kind: Tank, Barrel, IBC tote, Amphora, Keg or Other. Choosing Barrel reveals an extra section with barrel attributes.
- Fill in Capacity (L), Material (for example stainless steel, oak, concrete) and Location (for example Cellar).
- Click Save.
The app assigns the QR code itself. It is ten uppercase characters from an alphabet with no look-alikes - no zero, no O, no one, no I and no L - so nothing is misread when you type it by hand. On the label it is printed under the code in groups of four, “ABCD EFGH JK”. You will also see it on the list, under the vessel name.
Barrel attributes
When the kind is Barrel, an extra Barrel attributes section appears:
- Cooper / maker
- Year made
- Toast level: Light, Medium, Medium+, Heavy
- Oak type: French oak, American oak, Hungarian oak, Slavonian oak, Other
- Barrel size (L)
These details let you track how many times a barrel has been filled and how it shapes the wine.
Contract work - the Owner field
If the account runs on the Standard - no Polish filings, with client field profile, vessels also have an Owner (client) field. Leave it empty for your own tanks and barrels; fill it in for a client’s barrel you are working on under contract. The owner is shown as a column on the vessel list, so you can see at a glance whose wine is in the cellar. See Account setup - winery profile, language and units.
Filtering the list
Above the list there is a search box and filters for kind and status. The search covers the name, the location and the QR code, so you can find one vessel quickly even in a large cellar. The list shows the status of each vessel: Empty, In use or Cleaning.
Replacing a damaged label
If a sticker gets torn or scuffed, print the label again. The code is not regenerated - it stays with the vessel - so an old sticker found later still leads to the right tank or barrel. See Printing QR labels for vessels.
Notes
Vessels are not deleted. You archive them (Archive vessel), because a vessel carries the history of what was in it and when. That history has to stay available for your records.
