Demo mode and weather station calibration

Updated at: 1 min read

Demo mode

Demo mode lets you test the weather models against different locations without affecting your own vineyard’s data:

  • Predefined locations: Australia (Hunter Valley), Poland (Sandomierz), France (Bordeaux), USA (Napa Valley), South Africa (Stellenbosch), Argentina (Mendoza), New Zealand (Marlborough)
  • My vineyard (OpenMeteo): Simulates OpenMeteo data for your own location - useful when you don’t have a physical weather station

How to enable demo mode

  1. Go to Settings in VineyardElf
  2. Tick the Demo mode checkbox
  3. Pick a location from the list
  4. Save your settings

Station calibration

The calibration panel lets you compare readings from a physical Ecowitt station against OpenMeteo forecasts:

  • Comparison chart: Ecowitt temperature vs OpenMeteo
  • Statistics: mean difference, correlation, RMSE
  • Insights: automatic recommendations for calibrating your station

Accessing calibration

Click Station calibration in the VineyardElf sidebar.

Interactive location map

In Settings you’ll find an interactive satellite map:

  • Click the map to set your vineyard’s location
  • Drag the marker to fine-tune the position
  • The location name is filled in automatically
